“O” My: A Look Inside Cirque du Soleil’s new show!

Cirque du Soleil has been pushing the boundaries of a standard circus since they began. With multiple shows in Vegas, it is hard to choose where to spend an evening. Cirque du Soleil continues to be one of the best performances offered in Las Vegas, by delivering a show that audiences have never seen before. There are elements of magic for magic enthusiasts, humor for comedy-lovers, and song and dance. But what makes Cirque du Soleil better than any other circus is its commitment to new and thrilling acts such as fire hoops, acrobatic stunts from 90 feet above the stage, and some of the best talent from around the world.

“O” is Cirque du Soleil’s aquatic show. The name is a play on the French word “eau” (water). Whatever you might expect, prepare to be surprised! The performance features classic circus acts such as a clown and trapeze artist but combines it with new stunts and abstract performances.

The set and costumes take inspiration from the Victorian period, but the show spans the limits of time, and the set and costumes are just as incredible as the performance.

“O” begins with a trapeze artist before the stage opens onto a real pool of water that is twenty-five feet deep. You’ll be delighted by synchronized swimmers, opera, classically trained ballerinas, contortonists, and more. There are aerial silks and fire dancers, as well as deep-water divers who are operating behind the scenes.

If you are hoping to go in a group, you can feel confident that there is an act for everyone. Even people who are less inclined to enjoy the arts will be stunned by what these performers can do.

“O” is worth seeing even if you’ve seen other Cirque du Soleil shows. The water theme brings the show to news heights, or depths.

While the show does not feature any dialogue, it tells a story. It starts with a boy who is taken on a mysterious aquatic adventure featuring a variety of performers. You might have trouble making sense of a plot, but the experience is enjoyable from beginning to end. The music is all live, with orchestra and instrumentalists playing in glass boxes for you to see.

While the Bellagio website states that tickets start at $79, you should expect to pay more. Tickets often range from $90-100 for general admission seats and upwards of $200 for VIP seats. This show is likely to sell out almost every night that it plays. This show has been playing since 1998, but it continues to wow audiences daily. If you are wondering whether to go, you won’t regret it.
